Pipeline
Cost(s)
-Preparation time: A few minutes to position the specimen. Calibrating the system if it is moved prior to the scanning event or if it has been a long time calibrating was done. -Digitization procedure: For some scanners the digitization will be done automatically by placing it on a calibrated turntable. During the scanning the 3D model immediately becomes visible. -Image analysis: The projects needs to be saved and cleaned prior to the merging of the 3D views and the export of the 3D model.
-Digitization procedure: The different 3D clouds or meshes produced during scanning are calibrated and can be automatically positioned when using a calibrated turntable. In case the specimen has moved (scanning of the other side) a human intervention is needed to rotate the 3D cloud/mesh to approximately the correct position to start the auto-merging function. The calculation of the complete 3D model depends largely on the workstation and the amount of scans that need to be merged. -Image analysis: Several minutes, depending on the complexity of the scan.
